2018 CBB Rankings: Week Two

College basketball is back and with that comes a return of the Ric Flair ranking system. Our rankings are molded after Ric Flair's famous quote "to be the man, you gotta beat the man." The week's ranking are based solely on the week's results so if a lower ranked team defeats a higher ranked team, the two teams automatically swap rankings.

Four changes in our top 25 ranking with Furman, Arizona State, UConn and Iowa all joining the top 25 for the week. Villanova, the defending national champs, have been awful so far this season and drop out of our top 25 altogether.

Michigan look to be real contenders this season but you can't read too much into their 27 point victory over Villanova. It'll be interesting to see how far Duke can take their three man band with Cam Reddish, RJ Barrett, and Zion Williamson their only three player averaging over 10 points a game.

Tune in next week to see how our rankings shake up.

At times, players that showed flashes of stardom the year before end up winning, such as Giannis Antetokounmpo in 2017 and Julius Randle in 2021. Other times, players come out of nowhere for breakout seasons, like CJ McCollum in 2016 and...
