The U.S. Soccer Federation released its analysis of men's and women's Division I college soccer last week. Their main argument is clear from the report's title: "Ensuring College Soccer Thrives in the Modern Era of College Athletics and the Changing U.S. Soccer Landscape."

Giants Must Tank for Arch Manning and Avoid Temptation to Draft QB
The New York Giants are in dire straits, highlighted by a 3 and 14 record after entering the 2024 season with what Pro Football Focus ranked as the worst roster in the NFL. To make matters worse, they are stuck in a division with a Philadelphia Eagles team that has reached two of the last three Super Bowls, a Washington franchise that just had rookie Jaden Daniels lead them to their first conference final in three decades, and a Dallas Cowboys squad viewed as a contender when Dak Prescott is healthy. Something has to give in New York, and fate would have it that there is a familiar name ready to save the day- Arch Manning.

By now, everyone is aware of the Manning family and that Arch is the nephew of Eli, an NFL legend, two-time Super Bowl champion, and arguably the best player the franchise has ever had. The next-generation Manning is in line to be the next QB for the Texas Longhorns, yet his cameos have been so impressive that he is the current favorite for next season's Heisman trophy. Arch is the kind of prospect that changes the entire trajectory of a franchise for the better, a can't-miss talent that is near-guaranteed to be one of the best in the league. It seems fate has offered the Giants a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to keep the quarterback position in the family.
The dilemma is the NFL has a no-tanking culture, and with the third pick in the 2025 draft, there is a ton of pressure for New York to select Shadeur Sanders or Cam Ward, the two consensus first-round quarterback options.

But I would argue that not only should the Giants not draft a QB in this draft, but I would actively seek out the worst possible starter in the league to ensure I have the worst record ahead of the 2026 draft, aka the Arch Manning sweepstake. If anything, it makes more sense to trade the third pick for a haul of first-rounders that could then be used to improve the overall team for when Arch takes the reins.
Desperate times call for desperate measures and for the New York Giants, that means tanking for Arch Manning.
